Terms and Conditions

1. Definitions

“Company” refers to North East Stoves Ltd.

“Customer” refers to the person or business placing an order for goods or services.

“Goods” refers to stoves, flues, hearths, surrounds, or other materials supplied.

“Services” refers to installation, repair, maintenance, or servicing carried out by the Company.

---

2. Quotations and Orders

All quotations are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.

Orders are confirmed once a deposit is received (see Section 6).

The Company reserves the right to refuse or cancel an order at its discretion.

---

3. Installation Services

Installation dates are provided in good faith but may be subject to change due to supply chain delays, adverse weather, or unforeseen circumstances.

The Customer must ensure that the installation site is accessible, prepared, and complies with all relevant regulations.

Any additional works required (e.g., building, electrical, or chimney alterations) that were not specified in the initial quotation will be chargeable.

---

4. Repairs and Servicing

Repairs and servicing are carried out to the best of the Company’s ability based on the condition of the appliance at the time of work.

The Company is not liable for future faults or issues arising from wear and tear, misuse, or inadequate maintenance.

Parts supplied and fitted carry only the manufacturer’s warranty, if applicable.

---

5. Natural Stone and Slate Hearths

Natural stone, granite, marble, and slate are products of nature and may contain variations, veins, or minor cracks.

The Company takes all reasonable care during installation but cannot accept liability for natural flaws, hairline cracks, or imperfections inherent in the material.

Once installed, the Customer accepts these natural variations as part of the finished product.

---

6. Deposits and Payments

A 50% deposit is required to secure all orders.

If materials have already been ordered, the deposit is non-refundable.

If cancellation is made before materials are ordered, the deposit is refundable minus any administrative or banking fees.

The remaining balance is due on completion of works unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Late payments may incur interest at 4% above the Bank of England base rate until payment is received in full.

---

7. Site Preparation and Customer Responsibilities

The Customer must ensure that all furnishings, valuables, flooring, carpets, and personal items are removed or adequately protected before works commence.

The Company accepts no liability for damage to items left in the work area.

The Company will take reasonable steps to reduce dust and debris, and will clean the area at the end of the job. However, due to the nature of stove, fireplace, and building works, some dust is unavoidable and should be expected. Customers are advised to cover or remove furnishings in adjacent areas where possible.

---

8. Cancellations and Delays

Customers must provide at least 7 days’ notice of cancellation.

If less than 7 days’ notice is given, the Company reserves the right to charge reasonable costs for loss of time and rescheduling.

The Company shall not be held liable for delays caused by suppliers, couriers, or other third parties outside its control.

---

9. Warranties and Liability

Installations are covered by a 12-month workmanship guarantee unless otherwise stated.

This guarantee does not cover issues arising from misuse, neglect, lack of servicing, or third-party interference.

The Company is not liable for:

Pre-existing structural issues with chimneys, walls, or flues.

Damage caused by natural stone variations (see Section 5).

Consequential loss, damage, or expense arising from use of the stove or fireplace.

Damage to furnishings, decorations, or property not removed or adequately protected by the Customer (see Section 7).

---

10. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Scotland, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
